Department Information

The Newark Police Department is responsible for protecting the lives, homes, and properties of Newark residents.

 

The Police Department's force of 91 employees is dedicated to serving all citizens by:

·         Responding to calls for service.

·         Enforcing state and local laws.

·         Conducting preventive patrol activities.

·         Performing criminal investigations.

·         Promoting traffic safety.

·         Apprehending offenders.

 

Crime Prevention Services

As a crime prevention service, the department will conduct home and business surveys upon request and has available an electronic engraving tool which residents may use to mark valuable property.

 

Fire and Ambulance Services

For fire and ambulance services, the Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder Company, a private company staffed with career and volunteers, provides fire protection and ambulance service both in and around the city.
