Snow and Ice Removal
City Service Areas
The city provides snow removal on all city streets within city limits. Each individual Snow Route is listed on the left menu. Although there are designated Snow Emergency Routes, which do not allow parking during a declared emergency, please avoid parking on any streets during a snow storm to allow the city plows to clear snow from curb to curb. Ice and snow must be cleared from sidewalks adjacent to your property within 24 hours after a snowfall.

Code Changes
  • The City Council enacted the following code changes regarding the removal of snow and ice from sidewalks:
  • No persons shall plow or cause to be plowed any snow or ice from private property onto a city street so as to obstruct traffic, pedestrian sidewalks, public parking spaces, or line of sight.
  • Owners of any property that is occupied by multiple businesses or multiple dwelling units are now responsible for snow or ice removal from sidewalks abutting these properties.
  • Persons responsible for snow and ice removal from sidewalks of properties assigned any classification other than "RS" under the city's electric service rate classification system, shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine from $125 to $300 for each day violation continues.
  • When persons responsible for snow removal fail to clear snow from sidewalks, the City may clear snow and charge the person actual cost plus 50% overhead, plus accrued interest at the rate of 12% per annum. In no case shall the City charge less than $100. If the amount is not paid in full, a property lien will be recorded.
